Sway

“Sway” is a classic Latin jazz standard that has captivated audiences for decades with its irresistible rhythm and sultry melody. Originally written in 1953 by Mexican composer Pablo Beltrán Ruiz as ¿Quién será?, the song was later adapted into English by Norman Gimbel under the title “Sway.”

Made famous by Dean Martin’s smooth 1954 recording, “Sway” has been covered by countless artists across generations, including Michael Bublé, Rosemary Clooney, and the Pussycat Dolls. Its distinctive cha-cha-cha groove and romantic lyrics invite listeners to let the music carry them away on the dance floor—“like a lazy ocean hugs the shore.”

Today, “Sway” remains a beloved favorite for jazz ensembles and Latin bands alike, blending elegance and energy into a timeless classic.
